A bad day in seattle for the sixth year

The Mariners couldn't grasp playoff hope for the sixth consecutive year. Although they pulled through to win there final five games in a row it just simply was not enough. They were 20 games over .500 and leading the wild car up until august 25th. That was until they fell apart losing 15 out of 17 games. During this time frame the Yankees covered ground and flew into the post season.

It wasn't all negative for the Mariners though. They finished off at 88-74 which was a drastic ten game improvement from last year. They finished off in second place in the American league west. Which again a great improvement after dead last for three consecutive years. Mariners manager says that they feel good going into the off season and that there players are close then ever, and that they will continue these improvements next year.
